The Wikipedia article on Rand is quite interesting, pointing out that Rand is not really taken seriously in many philosophical circles and has no formal training in the subject. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make you wonder. Personally I find Nietzche's ideas easier to follow even when I don't agree with them, and there's a hell of a lot less romanticism.
